Hello Luzern

The mural by Lucerne artist Linus von Moos, also known as "Rips1," at the Lucerne Cantonal Bank is an artistic homage to our beloved city of Lucerne. Linus von Moos embarked on a journey of discovery through the streets, neighborhoods, and squares of Lucerne to gather inspiration. During this exploration, he captured individual elements, including various lampposts (different locations in Lucerne have different types of lampposts), statues, fountains, the ornamentation of building facades, vibrant murals found throughout the city, and the shadows cast by trees in a park. Rips1's roots lie in graffiti and street art, which are now an integral part of the cityscape. Therefore, this style was consciously incorporated into the mural. To further illustrate this, a painting of a street artist in the midst of their work is depicted at the end of the wall. However, the idea behind this work went far beyond the obvious. The aim wasn't just to integrate well-known landmarks like the Water Tower, the Musegg Wall, or the railway arch into the mural, but also the lesser-known yet significant elements that shape our daily lives in Lucerne. Some elements are deliberately left undefined; for example, a swan could represent Swan Square, the beautiful swans that characterize the cityscape, or the connection to Lake Lucerne. The mural offers space for each viewer's individual perspective. Every one of us has our own unique image of Lucerne and our own emotional connection to the city.
